Company Sponsorship Program

Find Qualified, Entry-Level Drivers at HMTT

Having trouble finding long-term employees? Looking for a fast way to obtain qualified, entry-level drivers? Heavy Metal Truck Training offers a company-sponsored training program for local and regional carriers.

Every week we talk to multiple companies who are having trouble finding qualified, entry-level drivers and want to recruit our students. Every day we meet with and talk to people who want to get into the trucking industry, but don’t have the ability to pay for CDL training.

The solution? Help these potential students pay for school, and in return, fill your available employment vacancies. The sponsorship options vary, and we can help you find what works best for your company. Here are a few examples of what has currently been working for the companies in our area. You can modify any of these models to fit your needs.

CST: Company Sponsorships

For qualified students that meet specific hiring parameters, CST Companies will “sponsor” the student and pay HMTT the schooling costs upfront. The student must sign a 6- or 12-month work contract. The company pays a discounted tuition rate based on that contract.

Dock-to-Driver Program

The Dock-to-Driver program allows companies to hire employees to work on the dock, loading and unloading trucks. After a 30 day probationary period, the company will pay for them to go through our 160-hour Training Program. Most companies require the student to sign a 1-2 year work contract. If the contract is broken, the student is responsible for paying the costs of training back to the company.

  • Some companies pay for training with the option to work on the dock at the end of the school day
  • Other companies pay for training and pay the student 40 hours/week while they are enrolled in school
  • If hired through this program, the student is not eligible for a sign-on bonus

Driver Trainee/Route Helper

The Driver Trainee / Route Helper program allows companies to hire someone to work alongside a current CDL Class A Driver. The employee unloads trucks, learns routes, and finds out if the job is a good fit. After a 30-60 day probationary period, the company will pay for them to go through our 160-hour Training Program. Most companies require the student to sign a 1-2 year work contract. If the contract is broken, the student is responsible for paying the costs of training back to the company.

  • Currently, company partners pay for training and pay the student 40 hours/week while enrolled in school
  • If hired through this program, the student is not eligible for a sign-on bonus

Order Selector

The Order Selector program is similar to the Dock-to-Driver program. The employee will work in the warehouse, filling orders,  loading, and unloading trucks. After a 30-60 day probationary period, the company will pay for them to go through our 160-hour Training Program. Students are typically required to sign a 2-year work contract and will be responsible for the repayment of tuition costs if the contract is broken.

  • Currently, company partners pay for training and pay the student 40 hours/week while enrolled in school
  • If hired through this program, the student is not eligible for a sign-on bonus

What are the Benefits of Company-Sponsored Training?

There are many benefits for both students and the companies who participate in company-sponsorships. At Heavy Metal Truck Training, we train students using ELDT Compliant Curriculum that already meets the changing 2020 CDL Testing Standard – a benefit to both students and trucking companies.

Another double benefit: no hassle or stress trying to arrange CDL Road tests. We have standing test times at the DMV for our students and typically test within 1 week of course completion.

CST Companies that participate in this sponsorship program are able to improve turnover rates, take the pressure off of training new employees, and can fill employment vacancies faster – with qualified drivers. CST Companies are also offered discounted tuition rates through HMTT and have free access to recruit our current students for employment vacancies.
